There is plenty of opportunities.  But it also depends what is available in your dream destination, how much time you have on your hands and how much money did you put into your saving account. Below you will find my personal recommendations.

1. Do a TEFL certificate and work as an English teacher

I have chosen this one. Done my certificate online and finished within 3 weeks. The truth is that I have spent almost 6 hours per day studying but to be honest I quite enjoyed it. This course had 20 chapters, at the end of each chapeter there was a small test and at the end of the course I had to create my first lesson plan. There is loads of TEFL courses on internet  so be careful and make sure that the one you chose is accredited. I have paid 350 USD and in change got 120 lessons, tutor support and videos.

If you are a native speaker then it will be quite easy for you to find a paid job, even without any experience. For me as a non-native it was quite challenging.  After few Skype interviews with Chinese recruiters aka scammers I gave up on my idea to be a full time paid teacher. I really didn´t want to go to China and the possibility of finding something like this in Thailand was very low. As you have probably heard, Thais are bad in email communication and the best way is just to get there and walk directly to school to ask for a job. So my second option was to find a job as a volunteer where in most cases you are allowed to be a non native speaker and your English does not have to be amazing.

There are few well established NGOs in Thailand. Of of them is  Isara. I would also recommend  Phuket Has Been Good to Us Foundation located obviously in Phuket island where I have been working for 4 months. They have even paid for my visa, work permit, room and bicycle rent.

2. Work on a farm or in a hostel

You probably already know that there are few websites where for an annual fee of 20 EUR you get access to the whole database of hosts all around the world. How does it work? You create your own profile and then you just look for a job you wanna do in country you wanna visit. You can either work as a receptionist in a hostel, teach language, babysit, work on a farm and pick up olives. You´ll have to pay your ticket and you´ll get room and food for few hours of work per day. Popular sites are  Work Away and Wwoof.

3. Travel around the world

In case you don´t worry about money, you can tailor your own flight ticket. You can find loads of options on this website Roundtheworldflights. Price starts on 599 GBP which screams a DEAL!

4. Take care of sea turtles

Did you know that six out of seven species of sea turtles is in danger? That´s why there is so many programs which you can join, for example in Costa Rica, Panama or Florida. You can find inspiration at  Conserveturtles.

5. Work online

If you are specialist in web design, IT, marketing etc. then you can work online. These days there are many websites for freelancers. Check out Elance.com, Freelancer.com or Odesk.com. You can register for free. Just fill in your profile and you´ll get access to hundreds of job offers. The registration is for free.
