Although Gili Trawangan is probably the smallest island I have ever stayed in you can find heaps of hostels, hotels, bungalows or villas to rent. The cheapest bed in hostel will cost you from 100,000 IDR (8 USD) per night and for 4 star villa you can pay up to 3,500,000 IDR (271 USD) a night. For this blog post I have picked two places which are worth your consideration.
Location: I have spent 3 amazing days & nights in this lovely bungalow. Right, it is not located at the beach but the 5 min walk from the main street is worth it. After your arrival, head right and follow the main road. At some point you will have to turn left but don´t worry it is very easy to find as every turn has loads of hotel signs with directions.
Facilities: There are 5 bungalows with a pleasant swimming pool and reception desk where you can also get tea, coffee or cooled beer and water. Each bungalow has its own little patio with a bench and outdoor bathroom with a shower which is pretty awesome. The wifi worked pretty well and when we were leaving the owner told us they are planning to get AC soon.
Eating options: Breakfast is included and served on your patio. You can choose either from eggs with bacon or pancakes. You also get tea or coffee, fresh juice and fruit salad.
Price: 500,000 IDR (39 USD) for a bungalow per night. Absolutely worth it.
I have done a lot of research about this place beforehand but at the end decided to stay in Guava Garden. I think it was because we wanted to stay close to the market and the “centre”. This place have open just recently but thanks to great marketing it is quite well known. At least I have managed to get a drink there.
Location: Located in the north part of the island. After arrival you need to take a Horse cart taxi to get there. If you stay somewhere else and just want to check this place out, take a bicycle or walk.
Facilities: They offer different types of rooms (bungalows) incl. mega family sweets where you can accommodate up to 4 persons. Each room has a fan but some rooms have optional AC. There is a restaurant with coctail and juice bar, swimming pool, sunset decks on the beach and free wifi. If you get bored at the pool or at the beach you can play board games, volleyball, table tennis, petanque or rent a bicycle. Big plus is they have hammocks on the beach.
Eating options: Hotel restaurant available. Or just grab a bike and in 12 minutes you´ll be at the main Gili T road where is many restaurants and coffee bars.
Price: Double room with sea view and terrace from 900,000 IDR (70 USD) per night.
Have you been to Gili T? Where did you stay? How was your experience?
